AAPI LVMPD SUZUYA Patisserie&Cafe in Las Vegas

A Sweet Day with Our Community

One of the things I love most about Suzuya is how connected we are to our community. Recently, we had the unique opportunity to welcome members of the LVMPD Asian American Pacific Islander Alliance into our kitchen. Instead of being in uniform out on the streets, they joined us behind the counter — learning how to make coffee, prepare sandos, and even decorate cakes!

It was such a fun and memorable day. Watching the officers carefully froth milk, stack ingredients into fluffy shokupan sandwiches, and add finishing touches to cakes reminded me of the joy that comes from trying something new. There was laughter, a little bit of flour in unexpected places, and plenty of smiles all around.

More than just a cooking session, this visit showed how much stronger our community feels when we come together in unexpected ways. The officers reminded us that they’re not only here to protect and serve but also to connect and share experiences with the people they support.

We’re grateful for the chance to open our kitchen and share a piece of Suzuya with them. It’s a sweet memory we’ll carry with us — one that reflects the heart of what we do: making connections, one cake (or sando, or latte!) at a time.
